Grillz London
Frequently asked questions
Below are the questions we're asked most often about custom grillz — cost, how they're fitted, whether they're permanent, and what happens after your order ships. Prices start from £70 per tooth and turnaround runs 5–10 working days for plain metal or 10–15 working days for gold and stone-set pieces. If your question isn't covered, get in touch through the form.
General
How much do custom grillz cost?
Grillz London prices start from £70 per tooth for silver, rising to £775 per tooth for 18K gold with a natural VS diamond. See the full price list on the prices page for every metal and stone combination, with totals for common set sizes.
Are grillz permanent or removable?
Every piece we make is removable. It's cast from a mould of your own teeth so it fits snugly and comes on and off whenever you like — nothing is bonded, drilled or fixed to your teeth.
Can I eat and drink while wearing them?
We'd recommend taking grillz out before eating and before drinking anything other than water — food residue and staining liquids like tea, coffee or red wine can dull the finish and get trapped against your teeth. Treat them like jewellery for your smile, not daily dentures.
Will wearing grillz affect my teeth or need a dentist's involvement?
Grillz are not a dental or orthodontic treatment, and we're not a dental practice — we take an impression and cast jewellery to fit it, in the same way a jeweller works from a mould. If you have any existing dental work, decay or concerns about your teeth, we'd always suggest checking with a GDC-registered dentist before ordering, and keeping up your normal dental care alongside wearing grillz.
Ordering and moulds
How do I order?
Send an enquiry through the website form or by email with the teeth you want covered, the metal and any stones. We'll reply with pricing, then arrange your mould — either a London appointment or a postal kit.
Do I have to come to London, or is there a postal option?
Both. We take moulds at appointments across Greater London, or we can post a mould kit to anywhere in the UK for you to take at home and send back to us.
What areas do you cover?
We work by appointment across Greater London's boroughs, and reach the rest of the UK through the postal mould kit. Our studio is at 493 Cambridge Heath Road, London E2 9BU, but there's no walk-in shop — all bookings go through the form or by email.
When do I pay the deposit?
After your mould is approved and you've signed off the final design — metal, coverage and any stones. The deposit is taken before casting starts; the balance is due at fitting.
Metals and stones
What gold karats are available, and in what colours?
9K, 14K and 18K gold, each available in white, yellow or rose gold at the same price per karat. 9K is the hardest and palest, 14K is the everyday middle ground, and 18K carries the richest colour but is the softest.
What's the difference between moissanite and lab diamond?
Both are lab-created stones rather than mined. Moissanite is harder than cubic zirconia and throws more fire (coloured sparkle) than diamond, at a lower price. Lab diamond is chemically identical to a mined diamond and carries a closer, whiter sparkle, at a higher price than moissanite for the same clarity grade.
Does my precious metal piece need hallmarking?
UK hallmarking rules generally require a recognised hallmark for gold articles above 1g and silver articles above 7.78g, subject to statutory exemptions. A fineness stamp alone is not a full hallmark. Ask us to confirm the finished article's weight, any exemption and the applicable hallmarking arrangements before ordering.
How do I clean my grillz?
Rinse after wearing, and clean with a soft toothbrush and mild soap or jewellery cleaner — avoid toothpaste, which is abrasive and can dull the finish, especially on stone-set pieces. Store them dry in their case when not worn.
After your order
How long will my order take?
5–10 working days for plain metal such as silver or dental gold/chrome, and 10–15 working days for 9K–18K gold or any stone-set piece, counted from your mould and deposit being confirmed.
What if the fit isn't quite right when it arrives?
Get in touch as soon as you notice — most fit issues can be corrected with a refit against your original mould. If your teeth have changed since the mould was taken, a new mould may be needed, which we'll quote separately.
Can I reorder the same design later?
Yes — we keep your mould specification on file, so a repeat order or a new metal in the same shape can usually skip straight to design sign-off without a new mould appointment, provided your teeth haven't changed.
My grillz feel loose after a while — can they be refitted?
Yes. Minor looseness can often be adjusted; more noticeable changes usually mean your teeth have shifted slightly and a fresh mould gives the most reliable fit. Contact us and we'll advise on the best route.
